Hi, dear friends,
It has been a while!
From July 2022 until July 2024, I am an artist-in-residence working with THE POINT C.D.C. and NOCD-NY as part of the Artist Employment Program grant from Creatives Rebuild New York. Designed to support employment opportunities for artists.
As part of this work, I am engaging with young people in Hunts Point and cultural practitioners across New York City to collaborate, develop, implement, and cross-pollinate arts & culture strategies and practices for the environmental justice movements in the South Bronx, for example fighting for air quality and green jobs.
Last fall, alongside a group of young people from local high schools and educators in Hunts Point and Longwood, we created a zine about food and climate justice. The work produced can be downloaded here.

Fish Parade & Arts Festival
Our next collaboration is the Hunts Point Fish Parade & Summer Festival.
This year marks the 20th Annual Hunts Point Fish Parade & Arts Festival on Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the Bronx, NY. You can find more information and details here.
What is it?
The Fish Parade & Arts Festival is an annual procession through Hunts Point streets connecting the community to the Bronx River. A fish puppet leads the parade as a symbol of hope, resistance, and celebration.
The event is a vibrant celebration that combines activism, joy, and community building. Participants often use banners, costumes, and puppets representing marine life. The parade culminates in an arts festival featuring live music, dancing, and art-making. The event is also a platform for Bronx residents and organizations to raise awareness about environmental issues and to advocate for environmental justice.
This year’s parade theme is “Rooted Visions.” We honor the achievements and struggles of those who came before us while inspiring us to continue working toward a brighter future.
My role this year is to co-lead the vision and coordination of the parade.
I would love to invite you to come and make art with me. We are making banners, flags, posters, puppets, and capes.
